First loves, going out with friends, wanting to be liked, hormone storm, rebellion … I think many of you remember what it’s like to be a teenager. Adolescence is one of the most difficult and interesting stages in human life. Some people go through it gently, others in a stormy way. In adolescents there are changes not only in appearance and behavior. Their way of thinking and perceiving the world is also changing, and there is a process of shaping their personality, self-discovery and willingness to try new things.

Therefore, Is puberty a good time to adopt a healthy lifestyle? Definitely yes! Each period is good, but the sooner the better, because it will be easier to change habits and patterns. In addition, young people want to learn new things, are flexible and quite quickly adapt to the new reality

Why is a healthy lifestyle so important in adolescence?

According to research, nutritional behaviors formed in childhood and adolescence largely determine the diet in later years of life and are more difficult to modify later. Healthy eating has a huge impact on the proper growth and development of the adolescent’s maturing body. Rational nutrition meets not only physiological needs, but also mental and social ones. Whereas Improper food choices are a direct cause or risk factor for many diseases. The most serious of these include obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, osteoporosis and cancers of the colon and stomach. As estimated by the Food and Nutrition Institute the problem of overweight and obesity in Poland concerns about 22% of young people up to 15 years of age. You can read more about the effects of junk food HERE.

In turn, physical activity in young people prevents and corrects posture defects, affects the proper mineralization of the skeleton, increases the vital capacity of the lungs and the depth of breathing, and strengthens the heart. In addition, physical exercise stimulates the maturation of motor centers in the brain and increases the speed of conduction of nerve stimuli, and also reduces depression. Recommendations for physical activity according to WHO can be found HERE.

It should be remembered that a healthy lifestyle is not only about proper nutrition and an appropriate level of physical activity. A healthy lifestyle is also about engaging in health-promoting behaviors such as: taking care of personal hygiene, adequate amount of sleep, taking care of mental health and emotions, maintaining contacts with peers, as well as performing preventive check-ups.

So how do teens assimilate a healthy lifestyle during adolescence?

First, the example comes from above

This is quite an old saying, but still as relevant and true as possible. If you are parents or guardians of teenagers in adolescence, who, if not you, is supposed to show them and, above all, provide them with knowledge on how to lead a healthy lifestyle? Youth during this period he is looking for authorities from whom he can follow an example and draw inspiration. However, if you eat processed foods, avoid vegetables and fruits, do not drink water, your growing children often see you tired, sitting in front of the TV or computer, and your only activity is going to the car or to the store for shopping, do not be surprised that they will do exactly the same, they do not like vegetables or do not want to be physically active – after all, the example comes from above.

Fortunately, not all is lost You can read about where to start healthy eating HERE. There are also several ways to encourage your teenagers to lead a healthier life. For example, it’s a good idea to prepare healthy meals together or arrange for your adolescent to prepare one healthy meal a week. Of course, it does not have to be a two-course dinner at once, but even a nutritious cocktail. Your children will surely be proud that they managed to prepare something like this on their own. Spending time actively by cycling, going to the swimming pool or walking is another great solution, thanks to which you will not only provide yourself with the right dose of exercise, but also strengthen mutual relationships. Additionally, you can organize various types of challenges, for example: “a week without sweets”, “one meatless lunch a week” or “30 minutes of activity every day”. These are just a few examples, but there are many ideas and it is up to you how you use them. After all, teens love to compete and learn new things. However, you can read more about whether challenges allow you to build habits HERE.

Second: health education makes sense!

According to a review by British scientists at the University of Southampton, the results of which were published in the journal PLOS ONE, the practical teaching of adolescents to healthy lifestyle is particularly effective and brings positive results.

The program aimed to encourage students, aged 13-14, to engage in education related to aspects of public health. In addition, the development of health awareness and decision-making skills as well as a sense of control over one’s own life and future was supported. Young people were made aware that they had a real impact on their health and life by making the right choices.

As it turned out, participation in the program has led to an increase in health awareness among adolescents and therefore made better health choices by them. Additionally, it is pleasing that adolescents made a more critical assessment of their health behaviors as compared to students who did not participate in the program.

The above-described experience is a good example of a different kind school programs and community campaigns aimed at health education of young people can effectively engage young people in learning, leading to permanent changes in health habits and behavior. In addition, there is growing evidence that adolescence is the stage of development in which to build and consolidate a health awareness for life, potentially providing long-term health benefits and increasing the chances of passing good habits on to future generations.

Summary

As you can see, there are many reasons why it is worth educating young people about a healthy lifestyle. Health education in adolescence can bring many benefits to adolescents, not only here and now, but also in their future adult life and even the next generation. Increased health awareness will contribute to making the right food choices that will result in good health and well-being. Remember that to a large extent it is you and the immediate surroundings of your children who have an impact on what kind of people they will become in the future and what choices they will make.

Start with small changes that will bring you health for a long time!
Moscow, August 13, 2021 (AFP) – Employees of Russian cosmetics group Natura Siberica, one of the few Russian consumer brands with a presence abroad, published an open letter denouncing what they consider to be a forced takeover of the group after the death of its founder.

“We, the employees of Natura Siberica (…) express our categorical disagreement with the appointment of Mr (Sergei) Bouïlov as president of the company and officially declare our refusal to work under his leadership”, say the employees in this letter published on their site on the night of Thursday to Friday.

?The company’s brutal seizure methods are so obvious that they cannot be hidden, explained or justified,? the letter said.

Since the death in January of Andrei Troubnikov, founder and owner of the group, a conflict has been ongoing between his family, who inherited his shares, and the new management, appointed by interim authorities following the death.

In this letter, signed by 164 people according to the Russian business daily RBK, the employees explain that Andrei Troubnikov hired Sergei Bouïlov in 2017 as CEO, before firing him 13 months later for “incompetence”.

They denounce his appointment to the post of “president” in August, a function which they believe “does not exist” in the statutes of the group.

They also claim that the wife and son of Andrei Troubnikov, who hold his shares, as well as a number of employees in key positions, have had their passes to access the premises disabled and their access to their work computer blocked.

The Natura Siberica brand, founded in 2008 and which offers products based on Siberian plants and flowers, is one of the only Russian entrepreneurial successes in recent years in a sluggish economy. It is also one of the few Russian brands to have made a breakthrough abroad.

Its founder stood out with his success as a “self-made man” and his relaxed style. He also owned two other cosmetic brands.

According to the Russian online newspaper The Bell, these three companies would have accumulated a turnover of 7.8 billion rubles in 2020 (904 million euros at the current rate).

According to the group’s website, Natura Siberica has dozens of subsidiaries across Russia, as well as in many foreign countries. In France, the brand is distributed by Monoprix.

(ETX Daily Up) – Almost three years after the arrival of cookie banners, many companies and sites are not in a position of compliance with the European Data Protection Regulation. An association, Noyb, has just filed 422 complaints in a dozen countries to move the lines.

Fundamental text on the processing of personal data in Europe, the RGPD, which established the unpopular cookie banners, is starting to grope. Criticized at its inception, the regulations have experienced a real acceleration during successive confinements. Many companies had come to grips with the goals of respecting privacy. However, for some time, actions have become scarce and a large community of diehards is slowing the movement.

An association, noyb, co-founded by Max Schrems, an Austrian activist campaigning for the protection of personal data, has just filed 422 complaints in ten countries to the data protection authorities. After the first warnings at the end of May 2021 with letters reporting a “draft complaint”, the association put its plan into action for recalcitrant companies.

The opt-out option, the main obstacle

The warnings, however, made things happen. About 42% of all violations identified were corrected within the first 30 days. Despite everything, 82% of informed companies continue consciously or unconsciously to violate the rules of the text of the European Union. Main object of resistance: the opt-out option concerning cookies. The text requires to make the withdrawal of the consent given as simple as its authorization. Yet only 18% of sites added an opt-out option.

On the Noyb association’s website, Max Schrems explains the concerns of some companies: ?In informal discussions, we heard that some companies were concerned that their competitors would not put themselves in a position of compliance, which would create unfair advantages. Others are waiting for clear decisions from the authorities in their countries before starting to comply “. The militant group has however encountered a problem of language barrier, 50% of complaints will be lodged with the Austrian data authorities, the “Datenschutzbehörde”, which will then take care of transmitting it to the countries concerned.

While some sites have become up to date, such as Mastercard, Nikon, Seat or Forever 21, the giants – like that – like Amazon, Twitter, Google or even Facebook have not followed up. The association made 36 complaints against them in order to fix their cookie banners. Obviously, the shortfall of these firms is massive given their dependence on advertising.

In the future, the association aims to analyze, review and report on more than 10,000 websites in one year. “We expect the first decisions by the end of the year. By then we should see most other websites move to simple yes or no options.” expressed co-founder Max Schrems.

Continued investments and a multi-local vision are the keys to Hermès’ success in this first half of the year. The French luxury group saw its net profit reach 1.174 billion euros over the first six months, three times more than in 2020, a year marked by the Covid-19 crisis, and up 56% compared to 2019, before the pandemic. Its turnover amounted to 4.235 billion euros, up 70% compared to 2020 – a performance exceeding analysts’ expectations – and 29% compared to 2019, or respectively + 77% and +33 % at constant exchange rates.

Activity in Hermès stores jumped 81% at constant exchange rates and 41% over two years. “These exceptional performances illustrate the resilience and solidity of our model”, summarizes the manager of the Axel Dumas group, visibly delighted during a conference call with analysts. “Our multi-local approach has shown our relevance. It was crucial during the pandemic and during the reopening of stores”, he adds, referring to “a remarkable flow rate of stocks”.

The current operating margin came to 40.7% of sales with current operating income of 1.7 billion euros. “It had a very strong acceleration in the growth of luxury goods and a leverage effect, as well as an effect in relation to our plan to invest in new jobs, logistics centers, etc.”, estimates the manager.

The saddler records progress in all regions and product categories with “a remarkable performance in Asia, an acceleration in America and a recovery in Europe”, where sales are up 45% compared to the first six months of 2020, but are down 8% on the half-year level of 2019. In Asia Pacific (excluding Japan), which represents half of turnover (51%), sales soared 70% over two years. The good surprise comes especially from Japan, where Hermès is doing much better than its competitors (+ 59% over the first half of 2020, + 22% over that of 2019).

“Three elements have played a role in this market: loyalty, the local and the transgenerational. We can count on the very great loyalty of the Japanese, particularly since the 1980s, in which we have always continued to invest with a long-term vision. “, underlines Axel Dumas, citing the new location of the Osaka store in September 2020 and the opening of a new flagship on Omotesando Avenue in Tokyo in February. Added to this is “great attention to local customers on the part of the Japanese teams now welcoming the whole family, from grandparents, to parents, to children,” which has enabled the house to outperform in this country.

Hermès is also catching up on the American continent, which has seen its sales jump by 115% over the year and 25% over two years. “We adopted a very cautious policy during the health crisis by focusing exclusively on our stores, without opening pop-ups, with sales by appointment. As a result, we recorded a strong rebound at the start of the year with a large local clientele who have returned, but also a young clientele who discovered us on the internet in 2020 “, notes Axel Dumas.

At the end of June 2021, all businesses confirmed their growth, with “remarkable” growth in Clothing and Accessories (+ 40% over two years), Watchmaking (+ 80% over two years) and Other Hermès businesses (Jewelery and household products) which almost double their turnover over two years. Sales of Leather Goods and Saddlery, Hermès’ core business, are up 25% compared to 2019.

Note also the good results (+ 65% and + 17% over two years) for perfumes and beauty, a new business launched last September with a make-up line. “We started with the launch of the lipstick which was a great success, well above our expectations, and will be rolled out in China in the second half of the year. We have taken market share. We are very happy and will extend the range. to make-up, ?explains the group manager.

Generally speaking, Hermès continued to invest heavily in the first half of 2021. Four hundred people were recruited, including two thirds in France, the workforce reaching 16,966, including 10,607 in France. Operational investments amounted to 214 million euros as of June 30, 2021 (including 97 million in distribution and 56 million in production and business lines) and should reach a total of 450 million by the end of the year.

“Faced with the acceleration of trends, we too had to step up in digital, logistics, etc. and we will accelerate investments in the second half of the year,” concludes Axel Dumas, recalling the inauguration of the leather goods store in Montereau (Seine -et-Marne) in June, which will be followed in September by the inauguration of another leather goods workshop in Guyenne in Gironde, as well as three factories in Louviers in 2022, in the Ardennes in 2023 and in Auvergne in 2024.

The conglomerate led by Jaume Miquel has largely suffered the effects of the pandemic throughout 2020, but the first three months of fiscal 2021 invite optimism. For the period from March 1 to May 31, the company achieved a turnover of 197.9 million euros, or 90.4% of sales for the same period in 2019. Compared to 2020, the growth is impressive: + 280%, despite a number of stores closed at 23% during these three months. On a like-for-like basis, the increase was 32.6%.
